The Terrorist Twins

The Terroist Twins are just that and more. They really are not terroists, they are two kitties we adopted from our vet clinic at three weeks of age. Momma kitty was getting spayed by her owner, she was a wild cat they had a hard time catching. These two kittehs were raised on Goat Milk! We provided them a stuffed lion that they cuddled with for the longest time.
These two calico kittens add so much life to our home. The one in front is Sonja and her sister is Selene. They have different temperments but remember they are KITTEHS!

Selene, she is full of Calitude! She is a wild March hair, full of silly kittehness and believe it or not her nickname is Suckleluffagus. She is the first one into trouble and the last one to go to bed. She finds great joy pushing boxes around the dining room! Her orneriness is coupled by her loves. She purrs just as hard as she plays and has a keen sense of when Linds needs a friend...usually when Linds is writing in her story. Selene finds it comforting to delay Linds by batting her pencil away or laying on her paper. She also thinks Lindsey's armpit is a place of solace!

It is entertaining to watch them watch us play the Wii. If they could just catch that moving thing on the screen! Not knowing that it isn't something they can catch Selene has repeatedly swatted at the screen with nothing to show for it. Sonja on the other hand is the smarter of the two and just watches.

Speaking of Sonja...such a dear sweet kitteh...is a cuddle bug. She will lay across anyones lap while they are at the computer, watching movies, or will lay across my legs at night in her comfy spot. When Selene is pushing boxes Sonja is usually inside them batting out of the hole at her sister. She is a favorite of the dear hubby, he has no qualms with her UNLESS he is reading the newspaper of which she will climb up on his lap and whap at it from behind :) She climbs your leg for attention...not a real climb but a "HEY! Pick me up! I want lovens" and purrs like theres no tomorrow!

There is one thing they both agree on...THE TUB! It doesn't matter if you just showered, or if you just cleaned, they are infatuated with the tub. If you take a bath be sure to close the door or their tails will drape in the water and they will bat at the water. Both like to get in there when nothings going on, just sit there in the tub looking at the wall. I have no idea why. Showers are more entertaining, they get between the shower curtains and bat at you when you least expect it! Very frightening if you are unaware!

They are spoiled with homegrown catnip, silly kittehs, and when they get wound for sound I give them a pinch and no more. They will play for awhile longer and then nap and nap like theres no tomorrow. They do not like store boughten, we have tried, in toys or even in a spray, its got to be Mom's stuff of nuthin, or so they say.

We all love our kittens very much and they are growing up so much and are turning into some very pretty young ladies. They are not allowed outside yet, which I think they are grateful as they run from the door when it is opened. They can go out when it gets warmer and they have been spayed, no babies for these two as I have a problem giving them away. Not that I can't...I just worry when someone takes them home. Are the babies getting the care that they need and such. It will be intersting to see how our barn cat Hannibal will get along with them, he has been neutured so no worries there and he watches them from outside through a glass door.

Now the dogs adore these kitties and have been their clean up crew which is quite funny as they attack the dogs more than get cleaned. Here you can get an idea of our dogs, Meira is the large one, and Bandit or Ole' Man as we call him, is the Jack Russel. Meira has grown substantially and it is comical to watch the twins beat up on her...she just lets them:) and you will find she wags her tail for them to whap at and pounce on.

There is one in our home that could care less if they are here. Actually she would prefer that no other critter should live here but her. She is awful to baby goats! The dogs get mad at her and won't let her get near them. She is not nice to anyone including me. Oh sometimes I can have her attention-usually when she thinks I have something good for her. Her name is Miss Kitty, a ragdoll I rescued. She had a collar caught around her mouth and it had caused an infection on both sides of her mouth. We have had Miss Kitty since she was around six months old, she is seven years now. She is an indoor/outdoor cat and when the twins get too rambuncious she either puts them in their place or goes outside. But she is in agreence with the two in that Mom's catnip rocks whether it is fresh or dry and on a summers day you can find her sacked right by the plant after her catnip snack.

Sonja and Selene will be provided a home until the day they pass over Rainbow Bridge, just like any critter we raise inside. They are loved and encouraged to be good fun loving kitties. I keep their claws trimmed to save on furniture. And we put up carpet samples in the hall doorways for them to climb and play on. They both have learned to jump for one side to another but they are just too darned fast  for me to catch that act on the camera! Our Calitude kittehs are loved so much, not that you can tell ;), and I hope we have many many years with our kittehs and they stay so fun and sweet.

Goats, goats, and more goats!

Goats are wonderful creatures to watch and they fill our lives with humor and joy.

Each one has their own personality just like you and me.

Goats are surprisingly smart and learn very quickly what to do.

As goat breeders we work hard at which lines we want to bred together.

Funny we find bucks to be sweeter than the does.
We love each and everyone we have and they are raised on good management as well as love.

I will add more of our goats later, I just wanted you to meet some of them from Caprine Beings.
We no longer have Psyche, the doe Lindsey is walking...she was sold to a loving home in Texas but her daughters are here where we can still work with her genetics.

Small piece of land...big on dreams

I would like to tell you how we wound up here on our "little slice of heaven" in a valley that most do not like to call home. When My husband and I bought our first home we had slight of an idea of just what we needed, it was small...or as the ad said "quaint". We and our daughter Lindsey, being a small young one at the time fairing in life with Cerebral Palsy, thought the world of our small little home on a small little piece of land in the midst of a city. That is until Lindsey got older and wanted to go play outside. Our little 50 x 75 foot piece of property did not hold enough land to play on and the alley way, it seemed, was the track of the Indy 500. People sped through the alley at mach 5 leaving little room for a child in a wheel chair to go. There was no room for a "real" garden, and no shop to speak of for my husband to have his manly cave time wrenching sessions. The house itself began to shrink upon us and we thought we were going to be swallowed whole by the quaintness.

Then one day while driving around I had seen a sign that said "For Sale" so I swung in to see what the place had to offer. The home was nice and roomy looking from the outside, a secondary small house/building and a BARN! The property seemed to go one forever (or so I thought from living in a quaint home on a quaint piece of property. In reality it was 2 1/2 acres of blissful looking land with no alley going through it, lots and lots of land. OH MY! I said and raced home to tell dear Hubby. The price was high, at least to us, and Hubby was the only income so it thwarted our enthusiasm towards a big investment like this.

I did not give up! OH NO! I fell in love with the land and the house that resided on the property and mused with my Hubby about all the things that could happen on a parcel such as that. I went to the agent and found out just exactly what all came with the place, the how much for sure and what could we do to purchase, all the while hearing skepticism from my dear husbands lips. In no time at all an paperwork filling, we were in our new home with a buyer for our old home in less than a week of it being on the market. And so we made the transition from quaint to a large piece of land, because you know that 2 1/2 acres is far bigger than a parcel of 50 x 75 for sure. Dear Husband had a shop built from the equity built from the old home and he was a happy camper. I began right away plotting and planning for a "REAL' garden, and the lovely Lindsey roamed around with such freedom  other than getting high centered in sandy areas. We lost her several times before she would resurface from the shade of a tree out back somewhere.  After awhile we sold off an acre because 2 1/2 was far too much for Hubby and I to handle on our own. In the leavings was 1 1/2 acres of our own heavenly bliss, not missing the acre we sold.

Among the greatness of the place was Lindsey and the need to fit into some cliche of some sort, of which she tried many things but never felt like she fit in. That is until we had found 4-H and the barn surfaced a new and improved child! It was that barn and two goats that brought our Lindsey to a world of acceptance, the people in 4-H allowed her the niche. She of course fell in love with her caprine friends and since has never been happier. Her herd, as well as mine, has grown substantially compared to its modest beginnings. Although still small we maintain a herd comprised of Nubians and Alpines. We both work hard with them and we both show them.

In all of this goat rearing came an opportunity for me as dairy goats do make a wonderful commodity...MILK. I was soon on my way to making Goat Milk Soaps and added lotions and body butters as well. The birth of Caprine Beings Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions has been an adventure in itself trying to learn the needs and wants of the consumers.  Playing with new ideas and requests is always a treat for me and I do this business as I wish...I am the boss!

I still garden although I took a respite for two years to allow my Dad to let his hand work in the dirt. However I have the urge to get back out there and so have taken it back allowing that he may "Help" if he so chooses. A lot has changed since last fall, four raised beds made for Lindsey are popping up with wheelchair accessibility for her to garden. Many of the plans have been made to accommodate her in her want to garden and help produce food to supply our cupboards. This land after all will go to her after we pass, as this is the only place on earth I am happiest ( so long as we can garden and have goats).

We have a new addition this year to the barnyard, growing our own beef, his name is Cowboy Stew A.K.A. Mooman

We have plenty of pets, two dogs and four cats with a pot belly pig named Annabelle joining us sometime in March. She is a rehoming animal, such a softy that I am could not let her go by. I would if I could have many more pets but dear Hubby can only tolerate so many pets and so with the ones I do have I will be just as happy as a lark. I have had fish, a turtle, frogs, toads, parrots and such but none are sufficient as our dogs and cats. I am looking forward to adding Annabelle to the mix and am going to figure away to make sure her transition is a nice one. I hope she likes us and our little slice of heaven.

We plan on continuing on with our lifestyle for as long as possible, which makes us all happy. If you want to find Hubby go look in his big man cave under some vehicle he may be fixing. And if you stop on by be sure to come around back if there is no answer at the front door...we are usually out at the barn, Linds and I. I wouldn't fret too much about the dogs, Bandit is an old man now at 12yrs of doggie age...however our youngen', Miss Meira may scare the begeezes outta you at the gate. Make sure we are around before you come in...her purpose is plain as day "This is my place and these are my charges, intruders beware" she will say. She does a good job with her charges and is still learning her roll here in our heaven.

So theres the story behind the dreams on our little piece of land that is much bigger than the other. Right now our home is under addition construction to give our young woman more space of her own and a much better room it is going to be!
Come back by now ya hear!

Blogging...

I know that blogging has been around for awhile, I have just now gotten the urge to blog. There are many faucets to the realm of Amigo2be and I am unsure as to which I should delve into at the moment. So whilst I ponder upon blogging I suppose I should first ask, "What does one consider a worthy blog?". Would it be the goat herd and its many aspects? Maybe the gardening and its many aspects. Or perchance should I go into the world of herbs as I do so LOVE talking about them and preparing them for later use. Or pehaps just the experiences of living on a daily basis?

What exactly makes a blog worth reading I guess is what this blog about. There are many blogs that begin well but become latent in its content. And then there are blogs filled with too much information (TMI). Where does one draw the line at TMI? I do like reading blogs that have humor and wit mixed in with educating others as I read this morning on "How-To-Copper-Bolus". And then some I just cannot for the life of me reason why it was written in the first place. I suppose since blogs are so personal and meant to be a sharing experience there has to be some of all types of blogs.

And how does one stay undaunted when there are various people reading blogs? Some are easier to offend while others are easy going. Some people scrutinize titles, some scrutinize the content, and others take to heart with earnestness the content almost as gospel. Comments are variable as well and in those comments are many of the afore mentioned. Offense or communal, dependant upon the reader and writer. So please if there is a certain trick to blogging and commenting a comment on such of a way let me know  now.

I do not blog to be perceptually unhappy towards others nor do I blog to be a laughing court either but just to find another avenue to give my aspect of things. Is this the way to blog? Have I now "hit the nail on the head"?  And if so then should one when reading comments on ones blog take into mind that a comment is just anothers aspect upon the aspect just read? So many questions for a blog, but really necessary to find if blogging is an accepted form of relating aspects.

And so this is my first blog. I do hope that it was not found redundant in its content. I also hope that those that read this blog will relate their views upon blogging and its many aspects. This is written in its entirety by an naive blogger in hopes to continue blogging with more worthy blogging material.
So please help me in my endeavor to find another way to reveal aspects to my many fauceted life in a much more in depth view. Thank you for your attention and happy blogging.
